Sampling Frame

Sampling frame:  A sampling frame is a collection of data from a sample, a technique used in statistics when a population or data sample is too large to be studied.
A sample frame is the source of material or device from which a sample is drawn.

Qualities of sampling frame:

1)    All units have a logical, numerical identifier.
2)    All units can be found-their contact information, map location or others information.
3)    The frame is organized in a logical, systematic fashion.
4)    The frame has additional information.
5)    Every elements of the population of interest is present in the frame.
6)    Every elements of the population is present only once in the frame.
7)    The data is ‘Up-to-data’.
8)    No elements from outside the population of interest are present in the frame.

Problem of sampling frame:

1)    Missing elements: Some members of the population are not included in the frame.
2)    Foreign elements: The non-member of population are included in the farme.
3)    Duplicate entries: A member of the population is surveyed more than once.
4)    Groups: The frame groups instead of individuals.
