Milliammeter

Definition: It is the device which is used for measure of current intensity passing through a conductor. The measuring unit is miliampere. If the measuring unit is ampere the device is called ammeter.

Construction: An ammeter is formed by the following objects:
1)      A horseshoe shaped magnet.
2)      Soft iron core.
3)      Solinoid.
4)      Shunt circuit.
5)      Hair spring.
6)      Pointer and scale.

Working:

·         When circuit is switched on the movement of molecule occurs.
·         Then electromagnet produced.
·         Electromagnet move the hair spring the pointer move the scale and indicate the intensity.

Use:

1)      Measuring the current intensity passing through a conductor.
2)      It is also used as a safety device.
3)      The amount of electricity measured can display easily.
