Tendo Achillis

Definition: It is a common tendon of insertion of the gastrocnemius and solus. It also known as tendo calcaneus.

Features: It is the thickest & strongest tendon of the body. It is about 15cm long. It begins near the middle of leg & ends by taking insertion into the middle 1/3 of the posterior surface of calcaneous.


Importance: If it ruptured sever disability in walking & running is impossible.
