Spiral
groove
Situatoin:
In
the middle part of the lateral border of humerus, below and medial to the faint
oblique ridge.
Direction:
Downwards and forwards.
Importance:
1)
Spiral groove contains the radial nerve,
which is liable to injury during fracture of the humerus.
2)
It also contans the profunda brachii
artery & its branches.
3)
The medial head of triceps brachii
arises from the smooth surface below the radial groove.
