Superficial mycoses: They infarct the superficial
layer of epidermis of skin.It is a mild superficial infection.Infection occurs
in the stnatum corneum of skin.It is mainly a cosmetic problem.
Superficial fungal agents with the disease:

Malassezia furtur→Pityriasis,Tinea
versicolor.
b)
Exophila werneckii→Tinea nigra.
c)
Piedriaea hortae→Black piedra.
d)
Trichoporon cutaneum→White piedra.
Clinical features:
a)
The macular patches enlarge and
coalesce.
b)
Scaling.inflammation and itching are
minimal.
Diagnoses:Direct
microscopic examination of scalping from the infected lesion.Lesion fluoresce
under woods lamp.
Treatment: Daily application of selinium sulphide.Topical or oral
azoles may also be used.
Systemic mycoses: Systemic
mycoses are caused by soil fungi.All these fugi are dimorphic. Infection is
acquired by inhalation.Infections are usually asymptomatic.In symtomatic
conditions,dissemination of infection may occur.
Causative organism:Systemic
mycosesare caused by:
a)
Histoplasma capsulatum:Histoplasmosis.
b)
Coccidioldes immitis:Coccidioidomycosis.
c)
Blastomyces dermatitidis:Para
coccidioidomycosis.
d)
Paracoccidioides
brasilliensis:Blastomycosis.
